My Counselling Philosophy
Deciding to seek help for a personal problem can take a lot of courage.
I know this very well, and I always try to make sure my clients realize that I am a human being too. I tailor every course of treatment to individual issues and needs, rather than try to impose a set pattern or methodology. There are lots of possible treatment paths, and I believe a big part of the therapist's skill is suiting the course of treatment precisely to the individual and to the issues they have.
I am what is called a multi-mode counsellor. This means that I draw on different techniques as appropriate., These models include Person-centred Counselling, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Gestalt among others. I believe that most people who come for therapy have, by doing so, already made a major leap in their "stuckness" by recognising their need for change. My job in all this is to help my clients get through the fog and find the much-needed clarity which enables them to move forwards.
So I approach every client with an open mind, and we embark on a journey of discovery and healing together.
If you would like to explore the possibilities and discover whether you might be helped by a course of treatment, please contact me and let's have a completely confidential exploratory conversation.
